Act I — Origin
Biography
Quentin Jerome Tarantino (born March 27, 1963) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor. Raised largely in Los Angeles, he worked at Video Archives, a Manhattan Beach video rental store, where his encyclopedic knowledge of genre film shaped the referential, nonlinear style of his later work.
Tarantino wrote and directed the independent crime film Reservoir Dogs (1992), then achieved major critical and commercial success with Pulp Fiction (1994), which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. He continued the genre-blending, dialogue-heavy approach across Kill Bill (2003–04), Inglourious Basterds (2009), Django Unchained (2012) — his second Original Screenplay Oscar — The Hateful Eight (2015), and the 1969 Hollywood period piece Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), which won two Academy Awards and starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.
