Biography
Joseph Vincent Russo (born July 18, 1971) is an American film and television director, producer, and screenwriter from Cleveland, Ohio. With his older brother Anthony, he began directing television comedy, winning a Primetime Emmy Award for the pilot episode of Arrested Development (2004) and going on to direct multiple episodes of Community.
The Russo brothers moved into feature films directing Marvel Studios' Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and Captain America: Civil War (2016), before helming Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), the latter of which briefly became the highest-grossing film of all time. They co-founded the production company AGBO and have since directed the Apple TV+ thriller Cherry (2021) and the action film The Gray Man (2022).
